Our seasonal veg boxes usually contain a mixture of root veg and whitmuir greens plus a load of seasonal goodies. You should always get the staples including potatoes, carrots, onions and mushrooms + whitmuir salad and either kale, chard or spinach. Throughout the year what you get will vary widely. Spring usually brings new potatoes, new carrots, spring onions, spring cabbages and rhubard, plus the first of the summer salads. In summer, soft fruits can be picked as well as the first of the root veg, squashes and tomatoes. Through late summer and into Autumn the harvest comes in and the variety in the veg porch is at its best and most abundant, big squashes, beans and root veg. Almost everything is available at this time. In winter the temperatures drop making the storing of veg easier and allowing some plants to keep producing for longer. Variety is surprisingly good in winter including brocolli, cauliflower, parsnips, swede, beetroot, kale, cabbage and winter salads.
