Book a visit

Whitmuir is an open farm and you are welcome to visit any day.

But we hosts many guided farm visits - from Chinese scientists finding out about small scale community supported agriculture to the humble nursery class wanting to collect eggs.

On the farm we rear beef cattle, pigs, sheep and turkeys for Christmas. We also grow vegetables and soft fruit and keep hens for eggs. We have an on-farm butchery, farm shop, production and catering kitchen and cafe.

We work closely with Whitmuir Community Benefit Society who are currently running the 2000m2 project funded by the Climate Challenge Fund and they also host a limited number of school visits and community growing and cooking sessions.

We also host the Dancing Light Gallery for contemporary Scottish art, Quercus Garden Plant Nursery and Gladstone Bag Antiques and Vintage store.

Topics for Farm Visits

We can tailor our talk and tour to suit your groups interests and can talk about a wide range of issues - for example:

  • Our story and what we do at Whitmuir
  • Why organic farming matters for our soil, our livestock, our health and the planet
  • Community scale food production and composting
  • The impact of Brexit on farming in Scotland
  • How we are trying to change the way we farm in Scotland
  • Animal welfare and compassionate farming
  • Food sovereignty and social justice

Please let us know what you would like to find out more about when you come.

Fees for Farm Visits

The farm unfortunatelly does not receive any public funding for educational work and we therefore have to make a nominal charge for staff time and to cover the costs of any catering.
All the food is organic and all dietary requirements can be catered for.
As well as matching the content to meet the needs of your group, we can match your budget.
